The castle hill that lies some 25 meters above the Weichsel dominates the silhouette of Krakow. From the 11th century, the Wawel has been the residence of the Polish monarchs for several hundreds of years.

Street musicians and souvenir sellers line up on the road up to the castle hill that is visited by thousand polish and foreign visitors every year.

The renaissance style castle is home to the Polish crown jewels. Very renowned the "Arazzi" which are enormous gobbelins made in Holland in the 16th century.

The adjoining cathedral is a national tempel. There, the Polish kings lay buried. The building is a combination of romanesque, gothic, renaissance and baroque elements.

The crypta has several sarcophages with the bones and remnants of Polish kings. The building features 18 small chapels that form annexes to the main building.

The Sigismund Tower - one of the three towers of the church - the largest church bell of Poland is exhibited, its diameter being 2.4 meters, its weight being 6 tons). On top, the view is marvellous, covering the whole of Krakow and even reaching out to the mountains of Carpates in the south.

Descending from the castle hill, you will discover the of the dragon, where legendary King Krak freed the city of the dragon's tyranny.
